Rapid growth of the aerospace industry has caused greater demand of flight qualified hardware that builds upon heritage flight requirements. In order to support these demands, Stellar’s processes are continually evolving to offer advanced solutions for design and manufacturing of next generation flight sensors. Product quality and functional performance of these sensors are critical to the success of manned space flight missions requiring continuous improvement in all aspects of manufacturing and test.

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for supporting and developing manufacturing processes integral to Stellar’s core product lines; coordinate with technicians, and other engineers to ensure all manufacturing methods have been documented accordingly, conform to the end user’s requirements, and are of the highest quality.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assists the production and engineering teams with development and implementation of manufacturing processes under direct supervision.
• Supports the transition of new products from development to production, focusing on maintaining quality, manufacturability, and compliance with specifications.
• Diagnoses and triages product flagged for potential quality concerns under guidance of leads and/or management.
• Participates in troubleshooting and problem-solving activities for design, manufacturing, and quality issues related to electromechanical products.
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams to assist with the development, evaluation, and improvement of production assembly methods, test plans, and supporting product documentation.
• Performs entry-level tasks as assigned, including but not limited to data collection, basic analysis, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 1-3 years relevant engineering experience. 
• Strong technical skills and an understanding of mechanical designs, manufacturing processes, including the ability to interpret, review, and modify existing documentation.
• Have good communication skills and the ability to coordinate with manufacturing and assembly.
• Have self-starting instincts, strong analytical skills, and a passion for continuous improvements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to put together high-level engineering reports, analysis summaries, and design packages. 

Preferred:

• Knowledge of aerospace standards applicable to the design and test of sensor instrumentation.
• Familiarity of signal capturing and processing for sensor instrumentation.
• Understanding reliability analysis at the component and assembly level.
