nVenia is hiring for a skilled Manufacturing Engineer, responsible for developing and implementing enhanced manufacturing methods to improve quality, reduce cost, improve safety, and reduce lead times utilizing lean concepts and tools. The incumbent will provide manufacturing and process engineering support to the Operations organization.
Essentials Responsibilities include:
- Drive process improvements to ensure the organization is utilizing best practices related manufacturing.
- Improve productivity, efficiency and throughput while eliminating waste by utilizing lean concepts and tools.
- Analyze current product designs, machining operations, assembly procedures, test procedures, floor layout and material flow to enhance processes to improve production techniques that result in a more cost-efficient manufacturing process.
- Lead (or participate in) teams in continuous improvement activities and process redesign.
- Develop innovative solutions to complex manufacturing production problems through identification and implementation of advanced manufacturing processes.
- Design and develop tooling and fixtures for manufacturing.
- Support Manufacturing to improve efficiency of manufacturing.
- Identify throughput constraints and drive root cause improvements.
- Provide hands-on support and expert analysis on process issues.
- Take a leadership role in problem solving activities, determine appropriate courses of action and then implement corrective actions.
- Resolve quality problems in manufacturing.
- Identify and reduce quality errors through disciplined problem-solving techniques and root cause analysis.
- Implement procedures to address product quality issues.
- Develop action plans, prioritize quality concerns, and perform corrective actions.
- Establish and implement quality checkpoints.
- Support Design Engineering to improve efficiency of manufacturing.
- Engineering change process management.
- Troubleshoot prints and designs and provide feedback to Engineering.
- Maintain an accurate record of changes and deviations.
- Initiate and implement cost reduction programs related to process technology and improvement.
- Conduct ROIs to justify the cost for new equipment, process or process improvements.
- Build and execute process improvement project funnel to support profitability growth leveraging improvements through advancements in areas such as quality, machining and assembly process optimization, set-up reduction, process flow optimization and manufacturing variable expense reductions.
- Assist in specification, purchase and installation of new machines and equipment.
- Evaluate and recommend capital equipment improvements and additions.
- Create documentation for new manufacturing processes and engineering procedures.
- Create process instructions, verify build process, visual aids, work instructions and ensure documentation is kept up to date.
- Improve safety in manufacturing operations by addressing ergonomic and other safety concerns.
- Lead and conduct process audits to ensure process discipline is consistent with guidelines.
- Train employees when new processes and procedures are introduced.
- Assist in programming CNC equipment, robotic welder and laser cutting technology.
Position Requirements:
- B.S. degree in Mechanical/Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering preferred.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in an industrial/manufacturing/quality/process improvement capacity.
- Solid understanding and knowledge of the workflow in machining and assembly operations.
- Proven track record in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles – JIT, kanban, visual metrics, flow optimization, standard operating procedures, 5S, kaizen, Toyota Production System (TPS), problem solving and SMED.
