Job Summary:  Apply multidisciplinary engineering principles and practices to improve the operation and performance of manufacturing systems with a focus on Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement. 

Essential Functions

  • Design, develop and implement lean manufacturing systems that reduce waste, increase throughput, and shorten lead times.
  • Development and implement job/workstation designs with focus on ergonomics and operator satisfaction.
  • Apply tooling, equipment, automation, robotics, and material handling systems that improve safety, quality, and cost.
  • Lead the identification, development, and implementation of manufacturing CI initiatives with focus on employee engagement.
  • Maintain a productivity measurement and labor tracking system that drives improved manpower utilization and reduced labor cost.
  • Develop and maintain standard engineering data - layouts, process flow diagrams, capacity charts, time studies, productivity metrics, etc.
  • Support inter-plant benchmarking process to identify and propagate best practices and lessons learned.
  • Support capacity planning and changes in plant product allocation.
  • Work with Product Development and Design Engineering to identify opportunities for Design for Manufacturing.
  • Assist in other areas and perform other duties, as needed.  (This is not intended to be a comprehensive list of activities, duties, or responsibilities required for this job.)

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology is preferred, or a related field with relevant experience
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office and other engineering software (AutoCAD preferred)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Highly motivated and deeply responsible.
  • Committed to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to travel 10% to 15% between plants as projects require.
