**Summary**

Provide project leadership for new product introductions, product enhancements, capital expenditures and continuous improvement processes. Develop and implement tooling designs that will support all areas of production, (machining and assembly) to perform consistently and efficiently. Report to the Operational Excellence Manager. This role works cooperatively with employees in all areas of the company to achieve customer satisfaction while meeting corporate objectives.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Provide project leadership, leading a team in new product introductions and product enhancements completing projects in a timely and cost-effective manner

  • Prepare and submit capital project proposals, monitor results, and compare to initial justifications

  • Continuously improving operations, efficiency, tooling, and manufacturing equipment

  • Primarily responsible for carrying out projects in the following areas: Machine design/procurement, new product implementations, manufacturing engineering, plant automation, tooling design/implementation, and manufacturing cost estimates

  • Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators

  • Develop routings, standard work, procedures, and illustrations

  • Provide finalized details for manufacturing assembly costs for new product quotes

  • Improve manufacturing efficiency using Lean techniques, 5S, standard work, value stream mapping, setup reduction, etc.

  • Facilitate process improvement and set-up reduction opportunities

  • Provide technical guidance to the site and resolve critical site issues

  • Facilitate and execute the organization's Lean strategy throughout the organization

  • Champion the site improvement plan for continuous improvement within the business

  • Lead high-impact cross-functional teams and utilize the Lean Six Sigma and Kaizen methodologies to deliver significant value to the business

  • Support design engineering requests and document all engineering changes

  • Conceptualize, design, and procure special tooling for specific operations as requested

  • Initiate actions to determine root cause analysis and prevent the occurrence of any nonconformance relating to product, process & systems Implement interim processes as required correcting or containing all non-conformances Assist area supervisors/managers in MAR, RGA, & CAR dispositions

  • Provide mentoring to new/other Manufacturing Engineers (I & II) Provides guidance to CNC Programmers, Tool Makers and Process Technicians in various projects and responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots and resolves product integrity issues with an appropriate sense of urgency Supports VAVE and product transfers

  • Assess progress, productivity, commercial performance and implement action for improvement pre-emptively

  • Communicate effectively with all levels of organization

  • Ensure the keeping of accurate and up-to-date daily records of site progress and key issues

  • Devising and implementing risk management programs and ensure proactive risk mitigation strategies are implemented and communicating these to management on a regular basis

  • Report to the site Leaders on project progress and relevant issues on a regular basis

  • Facilitate the project team’s achievement of goals and objectives

  • Coordination and control of the change management process both technical and commercial

  • Integrate HSE requirements in alignment with site needs and serves as the site HSE technical expert

  • Travel to multiple sites up to 15% of the time

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

**Education and Experience**

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial)

  • Up to 5 years experience as a manufacturing engineer

  • 3-5 years experience with submitting capital project proposals

  • Effective communication skills (written, oral, and listening). Ability to manage communications with internal and external customers in a professional manner

  • Ability to apply principles of logical and scientific thinking to define complex problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions/recommendations. Can interpret an extensive variety of complex technical instructions in mathematical or illustrative form and work with information that is both abstract and variable

  • Working knowledge of metal cutting, forming processes and CNC control

  • Familiar with SQC methods and concepts

  • Experience in handling projects through all phases and disciplines of manufacturing engineering

  • Experience in machine design and machine control systems

  • Lean manufacturing experience

  • Capacity to deliver against multiple and competing objectives

  • Demonstrable customer relation skills

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001

Computers and Technology

  • Highly proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Project

  • Working Knowledge of 3D CAD and solid Modeling

  • Oracle EBS/AGILE Experiencepreferred

  • Able to write control logic programs for PLC’s and CNC controls

Certifications

  • Lean Black Belt or Green Beltpreferred
