JOB SUMMARY:

At Vibrant Works, we're seeking an innovative Industrial/Manufacturing Engineer who is excited to leverage their skills in a dynamic, non-traditional environment. This role will be instrumental in assessing and improving production efficiency through collaboration, and improvements in processes and layouts. Your expertise will be crucial in driving continuous improvement and supporting new product development initiatives that create employment and upward mobility opportunities for people experiencing vision loss. The individual in this role will be an integral part of our mission-driven organization that prioritizes community and collaboration.

JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and optimize work cell layouts and process flows, ensuring an efficient and effective production environment.
  • Conduct time studies, analyze production line efficiency, recommend and assist in implementing improvements to boost productivity.
  • Design and implement fixtures or tooling to increase efficiency or improve accessibility for people experiencing vision loss.
  • Work cross-functionally with Contract Administration, Supply Chain, Engineering and Production to complete National Industries for the Blind (NIB) Product Development Plans (PDPs) for government contract submittals.
  • Work cross-functionally to gather, consolidate, and organize sourcing and costing information, requests for quotes and other product development and production support information.
  • Develop and manage process routing and bills of materials, ensuring accurate and efficient production planning.
  • Maintain labor standards through analysis and continuous monitoring of production activities.
  • Champion a culture of safety and continuous improvement by promoting a safe and engaging workplace for all team members.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Internship, co-op, or prior experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
  • Understanding of process optimization and production planning techniques.
  • Use of CAD software such as Solidworks or AutoCAD.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Strong problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to finding practical solutions.
  • Excellent analytical, written and verbal skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work both independently and in teams.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds as needed.
  • Dexterity to handle tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks, if necessary.
