Job Overview:

 

.PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and troubleshoot machine computer control systems (PLCs, VFDs, sensors, FactoryTalk).
  • Develop and update standard work procedures, manufacturing instructions, and machine settings.
  • Actively collaborate with Quality and Training teams to ensure SOPs reflect current best practices and that new equipment/processes are adequately documented and trained.
  • Support development and execution of preventive maintenance programs with Maintenance.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance and direct task assignments to reduce downtime and extend asset life.
  • Participate in capital project scoping, equipment upgrades, commissioning, and post-install support.
  • Interface with equipment vendors and suppliers during selection, specification, and troubleshooting of equipment and materials.
  • Coordinate contractors and ensure adherence to HSE policies and facility standards.
  • Ensure all equipment and processes comply with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Design tooling, jigs, molds, and fixtures using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Optimize equipment and processes to improve safety, quality, and throughput.
  • Conduct time studies and process evaluations to support continuous improvement and waste reduction.
  • Support ERP updates (BOMs, routings, time standards) and maintain accurate documentation for equipment and processes.
  • Work with the Product Material & Routing Specialist for these updates within ERP.
  • Interface with R&D and Quality to support testing, product changes, and production challenges.
  • Manage or support small-to-medium capital projects for facility and equipment enhancements.
  • Provide technical guidance to production and maintenance staff on mechanical, pneumatic, and control systems.
  • Assist with the preparation of technical procedures and training materials.
  • Lead or participate in Lean, Six Sigma, or other structured continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, optimize cycle times, and improve overall equipment effectiveness.
  • Provide data and reporting for production KPIs, improvement projects, and downtime analysis.
  • Work cross-functionally to drive adoption of new processes and equipment by coaching production staff and ensuring robust change control practices.
  • Contribute to long-term manufacturing strategies through technical insights, cost-benefit analysis, and benchmarking of best practices across facilities.
  • Travel up to 10% to support capital projects, equipment commissioning, audits, or process improvements at multiple FGS locations.
  • Perform additional duties as required to meet plant operational goals.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (or related field).
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing environments.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance planning and implementation preferred.

Project management experience is a plus.

In Washington state, this role will pay between 85K-95k Base Salary
