**Job Summary
:

The Screw Machine Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes for Acme-Gridley and Davenport multi-spindle automatic screw machines. This position serves as the technical expert for screw machine operations by designing tooling and manufacturing processes, troubleshooting complex machining issues, improving equipment performance, supporting new product introductions, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Working closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Tooling, and Production, the Screw Machine Engineer develops manufacturing processes that improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost while ensuring customer specifications are consistently achieved.
**Essential Functions
:

Develop manufacturing processes for new and existing products
Determine optimum cutting speeds, feeds, tooling geometry, cycle times, and machining sequences to maximize productivity
Design tooling layouts, cam configurations, tooling sequences, and machine setups for Acme-Gridley and Davenport screw machines
Develop standardized setup documentation and process instructions
Perform complex machine setups and get approval of new jobs
Optimize existing machine setups to improve throughput, quality, and equipment utilization
Provide advanced technical troubleshooting for machining, tooling, and process issues
Support production during startups and critical manufacturing challenges
Lead initiatives to reduce setup times, scrap, downtime, tooling costs, and cycle times

Ensure manufacturing processes consistently meet customer specifications and quality standards
Perform first-piece inspections and support root cause investigations for quality concerns.
Participate in Kaizen events and cost reduction initiatives
Support corrective and preventive action activities
Provide engineering support during customer visits, audits, and new product launches
Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required to support production demands or equipment installations
Perform other duties as assigned

**Qualifications:
**
An associate or bachelor’s degree in mechanical/manufacturing engineering is preferred
Minimum of 8-10 years of hands-on experience in the setup, operation, and engineering of Acme-Gridley and Davenport screw machines.
Process improvement skills
Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, as well as an in-depth understanding of cams, gears, and mechanical gearing.
Proficiency in grinding and setting form tools, shave tools, drills, and cutoffs.
Solid understanding of shop mathematics, decimals, fractions, and metric conversions.
Proficient with the use of SolidWorks or similar Engineering Design software for the purpose of documenting Electro-mechanical system designs.
