Your Impact
We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer who will contribute to the success of the Operations Team, applying their expertise in manufacturing processes to support the achievement of team and company goals and deliver innovative, reliable solutions. In this role, the successful candidate will collaborate effectively with colleagues and cross-functional teams, demonstrate strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, and maintain a commitment to professional excellence, quality and continuous improvement.
The Role
The Manufacturing Engineer supports the development, optimization, and sustainment of manufacturing processes for designated products or product lines. This role focuses on executing well-defined engineering work, improving production efficiency, and collaborating with R&D, Quality, Production, Supply Chain, and Service to ensure products are built safely, repeatably, and to quality standards.
Job Responsibilities
Develop, document, and improve manufacturing processes and work instructions for instruments, subassemblies, and modules
Support day-to-day production activities, troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, optical, and software-related issues
Support precision assembly, alignment, testing, and calibration of products
Design and implement in-process tests to improve quality and throughput
Create and maintain MES workflows, routings, and data collection plans
Apply lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and improve flow
Support prototype builds, pilot runs, and new product introductions in partnership with R&D
Identify and support automation opportunities that improve consistency and efficiency
Ensure manufacturing processes comply with quality systems and safety requirements
Continuously evaluate processes for improvements in efficiency, quality, and safety

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Optics, or a related technical field and 2+ years of relevant manufacturing or production engineering experience; or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on manufacturing experience
Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and production support
Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles
Exposure to ERP/MES systems
Ability to work effectively in a team-based, cross-functional environment
Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of optics or electro-mechanical systems
Experience with basic machine tools
Basic soldering, PCB rework, or electronics assembly experience
Experience using automated drafting tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo)
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This role primarily operates in an office/lab/manufacturing environment. Must be able to sit, stand, and use a computer for extended periods of time
Occasional lifting of up to 35 lbs. may be required
This role involves occasional working in laboratory environments that include exposure to X-rays, radiation, high powered lasers, and biological materials. All work is performed following established safety protocols and regulatory guidelines

Compensation & Benefits
Competitive base salary range: $73,000 - $112,000 depending on experience
Our compensation philosophy: we offer competitive pay based on market data, including local, national, and industry benchmarks. For new hires, offers are generally within the established min- to mid-point of the range for the role, with flexibility to recognize experience, skills, and education. Our approach ensures fair pay internally while remaining competitive externally and allows room for growth.
