About the Role

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you’ll play a key role in shaping the manufacturing processes of UMC’s parts. You will collaborate with a skilled team under the guidance of a Senior Manufacturing Engineer. You’ll optimize processes, meet customer needs, and drive cost-effective solutions, all while advancing your career and staying aligned with our core values: Great People, Going Beyond, and Growing.


What You’ll Do

  • Work with other team members, such as Sr. Manufacturing Engineers, Machinists, Application Engineers, Quality Engineers, Sales, CNC Programming, CMM programming, Supply Chain, and Scheduling to quote new and repeat work.
  • Interpret customer requirements by reviewing specifications, prints, and models to ensure the quoted process meets all customer expectations and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop cost effective processes and procedures for the manufacturing of parts and assemblies in conformance with established specifications and customer requirements in conjunction with production personnel.
  • Work with Application Engineers to supply CNC Programming with a complete machining plan, which could include tooling, special tooling, fixtures, tool paths, cutting parameters, and models as required.
  • Analyze feedback/recommendations through a manufacturing change request process to incorporate improvements.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing or mechanical engineering or related area or work experience in place of education.
  • 2+ years’ experience in Manufacturing preferred.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM systems utilizing solid modeling.
  • Proficient PC skills in a Windows environment.
  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • Experience with quoting machined components.
  • Proficient in the application of GD&T and related inspection methodology preferred.
  • Experience with various machining operations and platforms (Lathes, Mills (3, 4, and 5 Axis), Mill-Turns, Swiss, and EDM).
  • Experience with special processes preferred (e.g. plating, passivation, heat treat, etc.).
  • Knowledge and/or experience in the design and selection of fixturing and tooling for manufacturing of complex parts.
