**Role Overview: **

Report to Operational Excellence Manager and under the guidance of a Manufacturing Engineer, support production employees with daily requests and support manufacturing engineering projects in a timely and cost-effective manner. Continuously improve operations, efficiency, tooling, manufacturing process and equipment.

Primarily responsible for supporting the daily needs of assemblers and machine operators with live/open orders. Secondary responsibility is to support projects in the following areas: Machine and tooling design/procurement, manufacturing engineering, process improvement, plant automation, manufacturing cost estimates and EHS (Environmental, Health and Safety) needs as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.

  • Develop routings, assembly guides, procedures, and illustrations.

  • Participate in cost studies and equipment recommendations.

  • Provide finalized details for manufacturing assembly costs for new product quotes.

  • Improve manufacturing efficiency using Lean techniques, 5S, standard work, value stream mapping, setup reduction, etc.

  • Submit and support engineering changes, such as new installation and start up of machines.

  • Conceptualize, design, and procure special tooling for specific operations as requested.

  • Initiate actions to determine root cause analysis and prevent the occurrence of any nonconformance relating to product, process & systems. Implement interim processes as required correcting or containing all non-conformances. Assist area supervisors/managers in MAR, RGA, & CAR dispositions.

  • Collaborate with other manufacturing engineers, CNC Programmers, tool makers and process technicians in various projects and responsibilities.

Critical Competencies for Success

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical).
  • Two to five years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer or CNC Programmer
  • Team player; self-motivated; excellent verbal/written communication skills
  • Knowledge of metal cutting and forming processes and CNC control.
  • Familiar with SQC methods and concepts.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing
  • Familiar with machine design and machine control systems (preferred)
  • Knowledge of G-Code and CNC Macro-programming
  • Fanuc robot, industrial robot or cobot programming experience a bonus
  • PLC programming
