The Role:

The Manufacturing Engineer plays a critical role in supporting plant operations by designing, developing, and optimizing manufacturing processes that improve safety, quality, efficiency, and overall operational performance. This position works closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and R&D teams to implement sustainable process improvements, troubleshoot manufacturing challenges, and support continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for evaluating current manufacturing methods, identifying opportunities for improvement, and implementing solutions that reduce cost, minimize waste, improve product quality, and maximize productivity. This role requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, project management skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.

What You Will Do:

  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for packaging equipment and processes.
  • Drive Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) improvements throughout the plant by identifying and implementing process enhancements.
  • Conduct root cause analysis activities to identify and resolve manufacturing issues promptly.
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all packaging equipment and processes, providing guidance and troubleshooting assistance as needed.
  • Scale and optimize tableting processes to enhance efficiency and product quality.
  • Scale and optimize batching processes to ensure consistent and cost-effective production.
  • Support product development initiatives from a production standpoint, collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals.
  • Act as the SME for all tableting and blending processes, ensuring best practices are followed and supporting continuous improvement efforts.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement cost-effective packaging solutions for new products.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate packaging equipment performance, identifying opportunities for preventive maintenance and upgrades.
  • Lead the implementation of automation and technology solutions to improve packaging efficiency and reduce errors.
  • Conduct training sessions for packaging department personnel to ensure they are proficient in operating equipment and following SOPs.
  • Participate in regulatory compliance activities, ensuring that packaging processes meet all industry standards and regulations.
  • Actively contribute to sustainability initiatives by optimizing packaging materials and processes to minimize waste and environmental impact.
  • Provide technical support during product changeovers and ensure minimal downtime during transitions.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in manufacturing engineering and packaging.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and suppliers to source and procure packaging materials and equipment.
  • Analyze production data and performance metrics to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction.
  • Support the development of capital expenditure proposals related to packaging equipment upgrades or replacements.

What You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.(or equivalent experience).
  • 1-3 years of experience in manufacturing processes and equipment - focus on packaging, blending, tableting and related systems preferred.
  • Proficiency in SOP creation and documentation.
  • Travel Required: 10%
  • Experience in driving OEE improvements and implementing lean manufacturing principles.
  • Expertise in root cause analysis methodologies and problem-solving techniques.
  • In-depth understanding of tableting and batching processes, including scaling and optimization.
  • Proven ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality and safety.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
