Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing and optimizing manufacturing processes to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost in an aluminum die casting environment. This position supports new product launches, troubleshooting of production issues, continuous improvement initiatives, and cross-functional collaboration to achieve operational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze, develop, and implement improvements in manufacturing methods, process flow, tooling, and equipment.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and collect data from the ERP system to support improvement initiatives and monitor project effectiveness.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality, scrap, or downtime issues.
- Participate in APQP, PPAP, and new product launch activities; ensure manufacturability and smooth transition to production.
- Design and specify fixturing, tooling, and layout changes as needed to improve workflow or quality.
- Collaborate with maintenance, tooling, and production teams to resolve process bottlenecks or technical challenges.
- Support capital equipment justification and installation, including development of Capital Expenditure Requests (CERs).
- Track and report on engineering projects, downtime trends, and continuous improvement metrics.
- Ensure processes comply with safety standards and environmental regulations.
- Maintain accurate and updated work instructions and process documentation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (die casting or machining preferred).
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing, process control, and continuous improvement tools (e.g., Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma).
- Proficient in CAD software (SolidWorks or AutoCAD) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Effective communicator and team player with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Working Conditions:
- Work is split between the shop floor and an office environment.
- May occasionally work off-shifts to support projects or troubleshoot issues.
- Must wear appropriate PPE and follow safety procedures when on the shop floor.
