Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Reports to: Business Unit Leader
FLSA Status: EXEMPT
Schedule: Monday through Friday (8:00a to 5:00p) extended hours may be required to support business needs
Primary duties and responsibilities:
- Responsible for process / systems compliance.
- Responsible for statistical analysis of process data.
- Active participation in new program / project launches.
- Hands-on shop floor interactions with both management and production personnel.
- Review and improvement of existing processes / efficiencies.
- Lean Manufacturing process improvements.
- Lead Kaizen / Continuous Improvement activities and responsible for cost saving documentation.
- Responsible for performing time / motion studies to establish standard production rates or to improve efficiencies.
- Will evaluate materials and develop machinery and processes to manufacture materials for use in products that must meet specialized design and performance specifications.
- Plan and design tools and machines to enhance production flow / processes.
- Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
- Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
- Provide feedback on customer problems and needs.
- Research, design, evaluate, install, operate and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements.
- Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics and computer-generated reports.
- Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
- Regular and predictable attendance.
Education, prior work experience and specialized skills and knowledge:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred.
- Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible manufacturing, industrial, or project engineering experience in a manufacturing environment preferably with fabrication, metal stamping, robotic, MIG, and resistance welding / assembly experience.
Physical environment/working conditions:
- Works in a physical, plant environment along with Office. The individual communicates regularly via computer and telephone with vendors, Plant Management, and employees.
