Our Grand Rapids MI location is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer. This role will oversee and manage the development and launch of new products through the New Product Development Process using Advanced Product Quality Planning methodologies, driving process efficiency and quality improvements in a dynamic, high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment. Additional tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Analyze and plan workflow, equipment placement and space requirements to improve manufacturing efficiency.
  •   Prepare product and process feasibility studies and all other documentation required to support customer expectations.
  •   Provide timely resolution of manufacturing process and product design problems, including investigations, statistical studies, and corrective action planning.
  •   Create cost-effective and safe manufacturing processes, equipment, and tools to improve manufacturing operations.
  •   Generate work instructions, job breakdowns, and standardized work to ensure quality throughout the process. 
  •   Provide cost estimates, database support, PPAP submissions, PFMEA creation, and standard work documentation.
  •   Collaborate with operations leaders and project teams to meet launch schedules.

Educational and Technical Requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline is required.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience specific to a vertically integrated manufacturing environment is required.
  • Proven experience using problem solving tools (A3, 8D, 5-Whys) is required.
  • Proven experience using PFMEA, APQP and lean manufacturing principles are required.
  • CAD experience is required.
  • Experience in a high mix, low volume manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experience implementing processes for custom product configurations is preferred.
