Description

Position Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer plans, directs and coordinates manufacturing processes in a high volume manufacturing plan: Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication process, line flow, Value Stream methodology, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.

The Manufacturing Engineer reports to the Quality & Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

 

Pivotal Experience and Expertise:

Carlstar seeks an action-oriented, self-driven, who has demonstrated the intellectual horsepower, energy, and wherewithal to assist in developing, evaluating and improving the manufacturing site’s processes and metrics.

  • Define, plan and develop manufacturing processes for new / existing product. Develop, commission and trouble shoot equipment, tooling, fixtures and gages / measuring devices
  • Drive continuous improvement of processes through the development of improved techniques and/or identification of improvements to equipment, tooling and fixturing.
  • Assess processes for their relevance and assess the adequacy of engineering equipment.
  • Design, install and commission new production equipment, monitor modifications and upgrades, and troubleshoot existing processes.
  • Collaborate with design and engineering team to identify and implement process controls to maintain product and process design standards.
  • Measure variances to standards, identify out of control variances, investigate reasons, suggest solutions, install and follow up.
  • Manage projects from concept to completion; ensuring the project is done on time and within the allocated budget.
  • Work closely with other engineers to drive process improvements through Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.
  • Develop lean layout line-flows that incorporate single piece production operations utilizing a Value Stream methodology.
  • BS in Engineering, required preferably in Manufacturing/Mechanical/Industrial.
  • Minimum 3-5 years related experience in a manufacturing environment, required.
