SUMMARY: 

As a Manufacturing Engineer at Barletta, you will be instrumental in optimizing production processes, ensuring product quality, and driving efficiency improvements. Your role will involve collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to enhance manufacturing operations and uphold our commitment to delivering high-quality pontoon boats to our customers.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Process Optimization: Analyze existing manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, productivity, and quality. Develop and implement strategies to streamline workflows, reduce waste, and enhance overall operational efficiency.
  2. Production Planning and Scheduling: Work with production planners to develop and maintain production schedules that meet customer demand while optimizing resource utilization and minimizing lead times. Ensure smooth flow of materials and components through the production process.
  3. Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure that pontoon boats meet or exceed industry standards and customer expectations. Develop and implement inspection procedures, conduct root cause analysis of defects, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  4. Equipment and Tooling: Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure that manufacturing equipment and tooling are properly maintained and calibrated to maximize uptime and minimize downtime. Identify opportunities for equipment upgrades or replacements to improve efficiency and quality.
  5. New Product Introduction (NPI): Partner with product development teams to facilitate the smooth transition of new pontoon boat models from design to manufacturing. Provide input on design for manufacturability (DFM) and develop manufacturing processes for new product lines.
  6. Supplier Management: Work closely with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of high-quality materials and components. Collaborate on cost reduction initiatives and supplier quality improvement programs to enhance overall supply chain performance.
  7. Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and company policies. Conduct risk assessments, implement safety protocols, and provide training to manufacturing personnel to promote a safe working environment. Adhere to and advocate for the safest behaviors and proactively identify opportunities to mitigate job-related risks and hazards.
  8. Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing principles and methodologies. Lead cross-functional teams in process improvement projects to eliminate waste, improve efficiency, and enhance overall operational performance.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field or proven experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in the marine or automotive industry. Experience with fiberglass, aluminum, and composite materials is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and methodologies, including CNC machining, welding, assembly, and finishing processes.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM/Solidworks software and manufacturing simulation tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles and methodologies, with a track record of implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
