Job Summary:

This position is for a Manufacturing Engineer on Gimbal products primarily responsible for mechanical technical issues on exiting products being built in production. Work with the Manufacturing Engineering team on all aspects (mechanical, electrical, optical, software) of the product in the support of production delivery goals. Provide guidance and training to technicians/operators on manufacturing process and design changes. Analysis process and component defects and develop improvements.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Expected to be able to solve design level problems with engineering support as required.
  • Take ownership of product/processes and give technical direction to technicians.
  • Required to work Hands On with the production floor and suppliers solving problems.
  • Daily production floor support on complex electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Work with supplier and process assembly documentation issues.
  • Participate in the review and approval of all ECO's for products being supported.
  • Design, build and prove out fixturing and tooling for manufacturing.
  • Understand GD&T tolerancing and apply/correct as needed.
  • Liaison with Engineering to understand purpose and objective of designs.
  • Constantly review product flow and processes and develop changes to improve manufacturability.
  • Estimate manufacturing costs and time standards.

Job Qualifications:

  • Requires a BSME and at least 2-5 years’ experience in manufacturing technical support.
  • This experience must include involvement with ERP, MRP or MES systems as it relates to Manufacturing.
  • Must have strong computer and CAD skills, preferably Solidworks.
  • Experience with optical-based products, portable instruments and/or infrared technology a plus.
  • Machine shop experience, operating or managing a plus.
  • Ability to left 40 pounds routinely.
