Job Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer – CNC Programmer is responsible for supporting production operations by developing and maintaining CNC programs that control the machining and processing of materials using automated machine tools and systems. This role plays a critical part in ensuring safe operations, on-time production, high quality standards, and overall manufacturing efficiency.

The ideal candidate will be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, apply logical problem-solving skills, and understand how changes in one area of the manufacturing process impact overall operations. This position works closely with production employees, supervisors, and senior management to support continuous improvement, cost targets, quality objectives, and positive employee relations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, edit, and maintain CNC programs (G-code) to support machining and processing operations
  • Support daily production activities to ensure safety, quality, delivery, and efficiency goals are met
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Apply logical reasoning to evaluate alternative solutions and recommend improvements to manufacturing processes
  • Analyze machining processes to identify strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for optimization
  • Coordinate and manage multiple engineering and production projects simultaneously
  • Collaborate with production supervisors and operators to improve workflow, tooling, and machine performance
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, housekeeping expectations, and quality requirements
  • Support attainment of budgeted goals related to productivity, scrap reduction, and efficiency
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation and CNC program records
  • Foster positive working relationships across all levels of the organization

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of relevant manufacturing experience, preferably in a machining or CNC environment
  • Supervisory experience preferred, but not required
  • Hands-on experience programming CNC machines for metal cutting operations
  • Experience using CAD software to create CNC/G-code programs
  • Familiarity with CNC machine controls and machining processes
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to apply general rules to specific manufacturing problems
  • Ability to understand and anticipate how changes impact multiple manufacturing systems and processes
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with production employees, supervisors, and senior managers
  • Proficient with personal computers and standard software, including spreadsheet, word processing, and basic data processing tools
