Position Summary: This role is responsible for optimizing manufacturing processes, improving product quality, and ensuring efficient production operations. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement innovative solutions that enhance productivity and reduce costs.
Essential Functions: The primary competency for this position is at the engineering level, providing manufacturing input that includes DFMA principles for new designs, cost reduction initiatives, rapid part procurement, and ensuring drawing accuracy and completeness.
- Utilizes drawing software to help establish new methods of manufacturing and design.
- Designs and develops manufacturing processes for new products, enhancements, product changes, and related fixtures that are consistent with zero defects and low product cost.
- Performs internal research and development on materials and coatings used at CMD, ensuring they are suitable for the intended applications on machines while also being cost-effective.
- Accountable for ensuring the accurate collection, analysis, and reporting of labor data for both fabrication and assembly jobs, while also maintaining competitive product costs internally.
- Supports and leads Kaizen improvement projects by implementing continuous improvement techniques in manufacturing and related areas to drive down labor costs.
- Reviews business systems and methods to identify areas for improvement.
- Responsible for developing and implementing standards and inspection processes for part inspection, to ensure parts can be evaluated and information recorded, as called for on drawings.
- Serves as the lead for projects focused on establishing new manufacturing operations or enhancing existing ones. This includes selecting, justifying, purchasing, installing, testing, and activating new capital equipment.
- Identifies solutions to problems encountered during the initial build of a design. Collaborates with the engineering and quality department to address these issues and prevent their recurrence in future machine builds.
- Collaborates with the supply chain team to evaluate and approve both new and existing suppliers, ensuring they meet the required quality and delivery standards. This process may involve visiting supplier locations.
- Visibly supports continuous improvement activities. Maintains an open mind throughout the change process. Works with others to continuously fuel improvement throughout the Company.
- Responsible for own safety. Practices only safe work habits and ensures all safety rules are followed. Responsible for keeping area clean and organized to ensure safe working conditions.

Competencies:
- Proficient in CAD software, manufacturing simulation tools, and ERP.
- Strong understanding of Continuous Improvement and Six Sigma principles.
- Familiarity with safety standards and regulations in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to solve problems collaboratively and work well with others.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, manufacturing process, or related field.
- Five+ years of experience in the engineered to order machinery industry, or equivalent of knowledge and training.
