What you’ll do
Lead and support engineering process improvement efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Point of contact for Process Engineering (CNC programming, tooling, troubleshooting process/ equipment issues) to the Production department
- Write, modify CNC programs for turning lathes, mills, other production equipment.
- Design, modify, fabricate tooling internally or thru suppliers
- Collaborate with tooling vendors, suppliers to make improvements for safety, quality, productivity and cost.
- Design or modify manufacturing processes for safety improvement, quality improvement, cost reduction, or design changes. Own and manage Machin Risk Assessments (MRAs’)
- Support New Program launch activities from quotation thru launch phases. Review proposed designs for DFM, provide inputs for rates, investment, order tooling, equipment, etc. Upon award of business, lead the process of manufacturing prototypes, completing PPAPs’, etc.
- Manage/ support capital projects, including development of equipment specification, coordination of equipment runoffs, installation of equipment, and management of external contractors.
- Update and maintain drawings for production equipment, including layouts.
- Develop engineering solutions for repetitive equipment/process failures.
- Achieve financial objectives by assisting in the preparation of the budget, scheduling expenditures, managing project budgets, and initiating corrective actions.
- Assist in identification of departmental training requirements and may provide the training for improvement of skill levels.
- Review, recommend, and coordinate TPM, PM< Proactive Maintenance and Predictive Maintenance programs to prevent equipment failures and maximize equipment uptime.
- Manage external contractors involved in process/equipment improvement.
- Support other cross functional activities to improve Safety, Quality, Productivity & Cost.
About you
Required Qualifications
- Engineering Degree from an Accredited Institution, or 5+ years of Manufacturing / Industrial Engineering Experience in lieu of a Degree
- 2-5 years of experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, with demonstrated proficiency in CNC programming, tool and gauge design, and cold forming processes
- Ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and efficiently at all levels inside and outside the organization
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree
- 5-7 years of experience in an automotive machining environment with demonstrated excellence and creativity in the items above
- Experience in automation design for material handling and gauging, machine tool selection, and Creo 3D Modeling
- Industry: Automotive experience, preferred
