Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Manual Precision Grinder to join our team on first shift. This position is responsible for grinding close-tolerance parts using manual ID, OD, and surface grinding equipment. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of grinding techniques, precision inspection, and takes pride in high-quality workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual grinding machines for internal, external, and surface grinding operations
• Grind parts to precise dimensions per engineering prints, often holding tolerances within ±.0001"
• Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and specifications
• Use precision measurement tools, including micrometers, bore gauges, and indicators, to inspect parts during and after grinding
• Select appropriate wheels, speeds, and feeds to ensure proper finish and geometry
• Keep a clean and organized work area and follow all safety protocols
• Communicate with team members, supervisors, and quality personnel to resolve issues and improve processes

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on manual grinding experience (ID, OD, and surface grinding required)
• Strong ability to read blueprints and use standard and precision measuring equipment
• Demonstrated experience holding tight tolerances and producing consistent, repeatable results
• Good mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
• Dependable and able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Experience in a job shop or high-mix environment is preferred
