We are currently looking for a Class A Machinist to make machine parts for in-house production of manufacturing machinery.  They will primarily using lathes and manual Bridgeport style milling machines.  Other typical machine shop duties will include grinding, tapping, drilling etc. The machinist must be able to work on-site daily at our Farmingdale, Long Island headquarters.

 

This is an on-site role and will require the candidate to work on-site daily in the Farmingdale office.

Compensation: 

We offer a competitive total compensation package. The hourly pay range for this role is $27.00 to $38.00 per hour and is commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications. This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, in accordance with company policy.

Responsibilities

  • Machine parts from blueprints using standard machining practices, efficiently, accurately and safely.
  • Work with engineers solving issues with parts or during machine assembly or troubleshooting.
  • Remove burrs or excess metal from machined parts.
  • Maintain equipment properly including any cleaning or lubrication.
  • Track work accurately.
  • Must hold tolerances according to blueprint.
  • Create tooling fixtures as necessary.
  • Select proper tools and sequence of operation.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance.

Qualifications

  • Technical Machining degree or equivalent; or 5+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, knowledge of common fractions, conversions, basic trigonometry used in machining and decimals.
  • Must be adept at using all measuring instruments, micrometers, calipers, dial indicators etc.
  • Any welding, design, sheet metal, CNC knowledge, manufacturing certifications a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and speak and hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
