Job Overview:

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Manual Machinist will be responsible for setting up and operating manual mills and lathes to produce precision components. The role includes performing machining operations on manual equipment for approximately two-thirds of the workload, with the remainder involving CNC operation on pre-set jobs. Ideal candidates will be familiar with both manual and CNC machining, capable of setting tools, making offsets, and executing operations with minimal supervision. Ability to program is a major plus. 


RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safety First: Follow all safety procedures, policies, and job safety analyses (JSAs) while practicing safe work habits.

Quality Control: Conduct in-process inspections and measurements using tools like calipers, micrometers, and gauges.

Print and Instruction Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, work orders, and verbal instructions accurately.

Machining Operations: Set up and operate manual mills and lathes with proficiency.

Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on all equipment as needed.

Machining Skills: Select proper feeds and speeds for various materials and operate tools with expertise.

Documentation: Record time spent on each job and track materials used.

Material Familiarity: Experienced with machining materials such as stainless steel, hot and cold rolled steel, cast iron, aluminum, and brass.


REQUIREMENTS:

Experience: Proficient in manual machining, with a working knowledge of CNC machining for set jobs.

Self-Motivation: Able to work independently with minimal oversight.

 Attention to Detail: Meticulous, accurate, and consistent in work output.

 Math Skills: Strong foundational math skills for precise calculations.
