Job Description

We have an immediate opening for a manual machinist in the Pomona, CA area.

**CORE RESPONSIBLITIES:

**

• Set up and operate manual lathes, mills, horizontal boring mills (HBM), vertical turret lathes (VTL), and other conventional machine tools to machine and refurbish turbine components such as IGVs, diaphragms, rings, shafts, sleeves and split casing.
• Perform advanced setups including 4-jaw chuck work, indicating, and alignment of irregular, heavy, or split components.
• Machine and finish parts to tight tolerances (as per drawings), using precision measuring tools like micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines.
• Interpret and follow blueprints, repair drawings, technical manuals, and GD&T specification.
• Select appropriate tooling, speeds, feeds, and machining methods for each job, considering material type and part geometry.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues in rotating equipment, hydraulic systems, and ancillary machinery.
• Conduct in-situ machining for oversized or immobile components using portable boring bars, flange facers, and milling equipment.
• Perform alignment procedures for turbine-generator shafts and other critical assemblies.
• Handle large, heavy components safely using cranes, lifts, and rigging equipment.

**REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

• 3 – 5+ years of experience with manual lathes, mills and conventional machining equipment.
• Proficiency in 4-jaw chuck setups and precision indicating.
• Skilled in precision measurement and GD&T Interpretation.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints and repair procedure.
• Experience with large, heavy, and split turbine components.
• Knowledge of machining tolerances, fits, and material properties.
• Physical fitness for handling heavy parts and working in industrial environments.
• Ability to operate manual Horizontal Boring and Milling Machine independently as well as Lathes.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

- Knowledge of critical dimensions within the equipment.
