**Manual Machinist – Plaquemine

• Air-Conditioned Shop**

FULL-TIME/LONG-TERM/EVALUATION HIRE

Monday – Friday 7:30 am – 3:30 pm

**Pay $25-35 / hr + to start DOE **

Express Employment Professionals, a full-service staffing agency, is currently seeking a reliable and hard-working Manual Machinist for a local client in Plaquemine. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating manual machining equipment and producing precision components from drawings, specifications, and measurements. This position is ideal for a dependable machinist who takes pride in quality workmanship, accuracy, and working safely in a shop environment.

**CORE RESPONSIBILITIES for Manual Machinist: **

• Set up and operate manual lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and other machine shop equipment to manufacture and repair precision components.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, sketches, specifications, and work instructions.
• Perform turning, facing, boring, drilling, threading, tapping, milling, and other machining operations.
• Calculate dimensions and determine proper machining speeds, feeds, tooling, and setup requirements.
• Use micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, depth gauges, and other precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions.
• Machine parts to specified dimensions and close tolerances while maintaining required surface finishes.
• Inspect completed work to ensure parts meet specifications and quality requirements.
• Set up tooling, fixtures, workholding devices, and cutting tools for individual jobs.
• Perform repair and rework of existing components when required.
• Identify worn, damaged, or out-of-spec components and determine appropriate machining or repair procedures.
• Maintain accurate documentation associated with completed machining work.
• Keep machines, tooling, and the work area clean and properly maintained.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and report equipment problems when necessary.
• Follow established quality, safety, and manufacturing procedures.
• Work closely with other machinists, technicians, inspectors, engineering personnel, and shop leadership to complete jobs accurately and on schedule.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Teamwork Orientation with organizational skills and basic math skills
• Ability to use power tools
• Attention to detail
• Ability to work overtime as needed
