Scope:
We are seeking a highly skilled Manual Machinist with extensive experience in producing and repairing precision components to close tolerances. This position requires an individual who can independently plan machining operations, interpret complex drawings, select appropriate machining methods, and manufacture or repair parts with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of manual machining processes, tooling, materials, and inspection methods, with the ability to work on both one-off repair work and production components. Experience operating SIP jig borers, jig grinders, precision mills, lathes, and other manual equipment is highly preferred.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Independently interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, sketches, and specifications to
determine machining requirements.
• Set up and operate manual machine tools including mills, lathes, jig borers, surface grinders, and related equipment.
• Perform precision machining operations while maintaining close tolerances and superior surface finishes.
• Manufacture new components from raw material and repair existing components to restore form, fit, and function.
• Determine proper machining sequence, tooling, workholding methods, speeds, and feeds without direct supervision.
• Inspect and verify completed work using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, indicators, bore gauges, height gauges, and gauge blocks.
• Analyze dimensional discrepancies and make process adjustments to achieve required tolerances.
• Work with a variety of materials including tool steels, stainless steels, aluminum, brass, and specialty alloys.
• Troubleshoot machining challenges and develop practical solutions for complex or non-standard jobs.
• Maintain accurate job documentation and inspection records.
• Ensure all work meets customer, engineering, quality, and AS9100 requirements.
• Maintain equipment and work areas in a safe and orderly condition.
Requirement: Must be a U.S. citizen.
Work Experience And Required Qualifications:
Minimum 10 years of manual machining experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated ability to independently machine parts from prints with little or no supervision.
Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
Proven experience holding tight tolerances and producing precision work.
Extensive knowledge of manual milling, turning, boring, drilling, grinding, and fitting operations.
Ability to determine machining methods, tooling, setups, and inspection requirements independently.
Strong blueprint reading and problem-solving skills.
Experience with repair work, reverse engineering, and one-off manufacturing projects.
Proficiency using precision inspection equipment.
Strong understanding of material properties and machining characteristics.
Education & Training:Requires a high school diploma or equivalent with additional technical training or apprenticeship in CNC machining.
Physical Demands:
Preferred Skills & Qualification:
Experience using SIP Jig Borgers or Jig Grinders.
Tool and die, toolmaker, or journeyman machinist background.
Experience in aerospace, defense, or high-precision manufacturing environments.
Familiarity with AS9100 quality systems and documentation requirements.
