Job Title: Manual Machinist

Position Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Manual Machinist to join our team. The Manual Machinist will operate and maintain conventional machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses, to manufacture and repair precision parts according to blueprints, specifications, and work orders. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, experience working with tight tolerances, and a commitment to quality and safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate manual machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
  • Measure and inspect finished products using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and indicators.
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using shop mathematics.
  • Perform machining operations including turning, boring, drilling, threading, reaming, and milling.
  • Select appropriate tooling, speeds, and feeds for various materials and machining processes.
  • Inspect completed parts to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and make necessary machine adjustments.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment and work areas.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to meet production schedules and deadlines.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical school or machinist certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of manual machining experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of machining practices, tools, and measuring equipment.
  • Ability to work with close tolerances and produce high-quality parts.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and mechanical aptitude.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, bend, lift, and move throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and varying temperatures.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience machining steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other metals.
  • Welding or fabrication experience is a plus.
  • Experience with equipment repair and custom part manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with quality control procedures and inspection processes.

Schedule: Full-time

Pay: Competitive and based on experience
