We have a fantastic full time career opportunity in Cumming, GA for a qualified Manual Machinist to work in a controlled job-shop work environment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Sets up and operates Manual Machine tools, including HBM, VBM, lathes, milling machines, ID/OD grinders, planers, and more, without assistance, following department policy and procedures manual, to manufacture and recondition component parts to customer, OEM and industry standards. Interprets mechanical drawings, blueprints, and sketches and performs precision metal cutting, grinding, shaping and fitting. Measures components, parts, and raw materials with precision measuring instruments, gauges, and tools. Works under limited supervision.

KEY TASKS:

  • 65% Sets up and operates conventional machine tools, under limited supervision
  • 10% Works within close tolerances to meet customer/contract specifications, and applies knowledge of qualities of metals and alloys being machined
  • 5% Plans sequence of own work operations and methods of set-up, including methods of mounting, leveling, aligning, holding, and fastening work. Interprets blueprints, charts, tables, handbook formulas, sketches, and written and verbal orders. Lays out work according to requirements. Selects and grinds own cutting tools.
  • 5% Performs any bench work necessary to finish and fit parts to required customer specifications
  • 15% for below combined responsibilities:
  • Maintains a safe, neat, and orderly workstation
  • Maintains machine tools as required to keep machines in good operating condition
  • Assists in the disassembly, inspection, and re-assembly of pump equipment when required
  • Provides information to allow a smooth transition for other coworkers to follow through with in-process work during or prior to a shift change as required
  • Assists other team members as directed, including training and assisting less experienced coworkers.
  • Supports, cooperates with, and participates in corporate EHS Management System which includes following all safety, health and environmental policies and procedures
  • Supports, cooperates with, and participates in corporate ISO quality program
  • SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES:
  • Minimum of five years experience in a machine shop operating all types of conventional machine tools including the following: lathes, milling machines, boring machines and drills.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and blue prints, apply knowledge of tool geometry, feeds, speeds, and basic math skills.
  • Willing to work the necessary time it takes to get the required job done

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:Journeyman status or equivalent desired. Candidates experienced in the pump industry strongly considered. US Military experience a plus. We offer competitive compensation for the successful candidate and a complete benefit package with a company 401k match program.
