Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Machinist to join our team. As a Machinist, you will be responsible for setting up and operating a variety of machines to produce high-quality precision components for tooling to make parts according to customer specifications. This role requires a strong understanding of machining processes, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced job shop environment. - Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine machining requirements.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and materials for each machining operation.
- Align and secure workpieces using clamps, vises, and other holding devices.
- Perform machining operations, including turning, facing, boring, drilling, tapping, milling, surface grinding, and threading, with precision and adherence to quality standards.
- Inspect machined components using precision measuring instruments, such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and Optical Comparators, to verify part accuracy.
- Make necessary adjustments and modifications to tooling to maintain quality and productivity.
- Troubleshoot and resolve tooling issues and related to stamping and fabricating tooling.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams improve product quality through better tool design.
- Set up and operate CNC Machining Center and Wire EDM (as required, training available).
- Adhere to safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Complete work orders, production reports, and documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or technical school certificate.
- Experience as a Manual Machinist in a fabricating job shop or similar environment.
- Proficiency in operating manual machining tools, including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses.
- Strong knowledge of machining techniques, tooling, and cutting parameters.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Excellent understanding of precision measuring instruments and inspection methods.
- Proficient in troubleshooting and resolving machining issues.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate and high-quality work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
- Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.
