The Lathe Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining manual lathes to produce high-quality pipe and piping components. This role ensures products meet quality standards while supporting safe, efficient production in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate manual lathes to machine pipe and piping components. 
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications. 
  • Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to ensure quality and accuracy. 
  • Inspect finished products using precision measuring tools. 
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and report equipment issues. 
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following OSHA and company safety standards. 
  • Accurately document production activities and completed work. 
  • Collaborate with supervisors and team members to meet production schedules and customer expectations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required. 
  • Previous experience operating manual lathes or similar machining equipment preferred. 
  • Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and precision measuring tools. 
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work. 
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform routine machine maintenance. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to safely lift up to 75 lbs. and work in a manufacturing environment.

  • Regularly stand, walk, bend, reach, and use hands to operate machinery and handle materials. 
  • Frequently lift and move up to 75 lbs.; occasional lifting up to 100 lbs.

  • Perform work indoors with occasional outdoor tasks. 
  • Maintain awareness of surroundings and follow all safety procedures and OSHA standards.
