Job Description:
As a Manual Lathe Machinist, you will work on a wide variety of rolls in a low-volume, high-mix environment. Responsibilities include turning roll bodies, boring, machining IDs, facing, and centering rolls. This role offers exposure to diverse machining work requiring accuracy, flexibility, and strong technical skills.
Our Shift Opportunities:
- First Shift: 5am - 3:30pm Tuesday - Friday (4 10 hour shifts)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Safely and effectively set up and operate a manual lathe to machine rolls, including turning, boring, facing, centering, and internal diameters.
- Proficient in performing required machine setups, reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications, and using close-tolerance measuring instruments necessary to perform job duties.
- Proficient in machining a variety of part styles while maintaining required dimensional tolerances.
- Conduct in-process and final quality inspections to ensure parts meet dimensional, visual, and functional requirements.
- Follow established quality standards, work instructions, and inspection plans to ensure consistent and repeatable results.
- Provide and maintain sufficient basic hand tools required to properly perform the duties of the position.
- Exercise care and perform basic preventive maintenance on tools and equipment assigned to the position.
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to safety, quality, delivery, and efficiency.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- A technical degree/certificate in machinery or 2 years of related experience.
- 18 years old at the time of hire to operate equipment

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Bend, squat, climb, grasp, reach, lift, or otherwise move about frequently and for extended periods of time.
- Lift, move or otherwise transfer up to 50 lbs. regularly, or more occasionally.
- Walk, stand, or otherwise move about continuously.
- Exposure to typical machine shop physical hazards which may require personal protective equipment.
- Grasps items and performs keyboarding for the occasional operation of a computer.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
COMPENSATION:
- The approximate pay for this position is $32.19 paid hourly. Please note the pay is a good faith estimate at the time of posting and may vary based on factors such as experience, skills, and geographic location
