Located on approximately 3,000 acres of beautiful landscape in Northeast Mississippi the Hamilton facility is Tronox's largest titanium dioxide manufacturing facility. About the Role
This position is responsible for providing the support necessary to ensure SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment & Quality) requirements are met. Focus is on implementing requirements, procedures & improvements. Develops and delivers plans that ensure the execution of annual SHEQ programs and continuous development and improvement of SHEQ performance locally. Manages the SHEQ department at a local level to ensure compliance across their area of responsibility and to provide expert advice and training to employees. Interprets the impacts of changes in local regulations and standards and ensures they are reflected in Tronox’s SHEQ local programs. Assure work is accomplished in compliance with all Safety, Health and Environmental policy. This position reports directly to the VP, Safety, Health, Environment & Quality, with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Site Director.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Leads site SHEQ team & develop & manage site SHEQ budget.
- Addresses local challenges to the culture where people take accountability for their actions and intervene where required to keep people safe and protect the environment.
- Aligns with SHEQ legal & regulatory requirements & implementation of local agreed SHEQ improvements.
- Manages development & implementation of local occupational health programs, including ensuring fitness for work.
- Manages development & implementation of local industrial hygiene programs, with a focus on reducing workplace exposures.
- Facilitates testing of local crisis and emergency management processes in compliance with legislation and Tronox global standards.
- Coordinates SHEQ audit programs & corrective actions (both internal and external).
- Takes the accountability for local interactions with external stakeholders to ensure all issues are addressed.
- Completes/Oversees critical & complex incident investigations. Review other SHEQ investigations. Recommend & implement improvements to procedures from findings.
- Manages staff performance through appraising them and identifies training needs so they are effectively developed.

About You
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health & Safety, Engineering, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field required.
- Relevant professional certifications preferred (e.g., CSP, CIH, NEBOSH, ISO Lead Auditor, or equivalent).
- 5–10+ years of experience in SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment & Quality) within an industrial, chemical, or manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience leading SHEQ programs and managing compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated experience managing and developing teams, including performance management and coaching.
- Strong background in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
- Experience working with occupational health and industrial hygiene programs.
- In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal SHEQ regulations and standards.
- Familiarity with ISO standards (ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001 preferred).
- Expertise in hazard identification, risk assessment, and mitigation strategies.
- Understanding of emergency response planning and crisis management.
- Knowledge of exposure monitoring, workplace health risks, and environmental protection practices.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to influence safety culture.
- Ability to drive accountability and promote proactive safety behaviors.
- Excellent communication skills, including training and stakeholder engagement.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results within a defined timeframe.
- Budget management and resource planning experience.
- Experience coordinating audits (internal and external) and managing corrective actions.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SHEQ management systems.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- MX or above on most recent performance evaluation is required and no active corrective action.
Physical Requirements
- Must be clean-shaven in areas where facial hair would interfere with the proper fit and seal of a respirator. This includes no beards, sideburns, or excessive growth.
- Primarily sedentary work with prolonged sitting/standing and moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
- Occasionally performing repetitive motions involving hands and wrists.
- Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions (heat, cold, precipitation, wind), poor ventilation, confined spaces.
- Frequent exposure to noisy and potentially hazardous environments.
- Occasionally lift, move and adjust objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Occasionally operate heavy equipment and motor vehicles.
- Occasionally climbs ladders, stairs, and works at heights.
