Quality Manager


POSITION PURPOSE:


Under the direction of the Director of Operations, the Quality Manager is responsible for planning, monitoring, and maintaining the Quality & Environmental Management Systems.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist executive management with the development of the corporate quality plan.
  • Create and sustain a culture that is based on continuous improvement.
  • Quality management of the company’s products including developing and managing measurement systems that incorporate Customer’s View of Quality, in-process manufacturing, and machine capability.
  • Customer Corrective Actions
  • Customer and 3rd Party Audits
  • Oversee and direct the overall quality direction of the corporation and the effectiveness of management systems including AS9100, ISO9001, ISO14001 and all other accreditations.
  • Establish a positive relationship with our customers and become their “trusted advisor”.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluating suppliers including production capability, reviewing all quality systems (ISO 9001), supplier appraisals and machine shop surveys, and identifying improvement opportunities.
  • Analyze data to evaluate current processes and process changes.
  • Manage customer corrective actions as well as customer audits.
  • Manage the day-to-day quality issues in all areas of the plant.
  • Manage the Defective Material and CAPA processes.
  • Exhibit strong verbal and written communications skills (job requires frequent communication with engineers, purchasing, and service providers).
  • Ensure procedures and guidelines are incorporated into fabrication/inspection/surveillance process.
  • Job will require domestic travel, approximately <20%. 
  • Manage Quality staff.
  • Must be quality conscious and continuously look for quality improvements.

REQUIREMENTS:


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.  

  • 5+ years’ experience as a Quality Manager / Engineer at a facility managed under ISO standards
  • 5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing quality assurance environment
  • Strong background in manufacturing processes is required
  • Strong problem solver, and skilled in metrology
  • Competent with MS Office Suite and ERP software applications
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of scrap measurements, rework measurements, customer specific performance measurements, vendor performance measurements, gage repeatability and reproducibility measurements (GRR’s) 
  • Exhibit core values of integrity and accountability
  • Maintain a clean, orderly and efficient work area 
  • Demonstrates ability to read, write, speak, hear and interpret documents and instructions from both verbal and written English.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem solving, time management and interpersonal skills
  • Possess knowledge of gage maintenance and calibration 
  • Regularly required to use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls and to reach with hands, arms and feet
  • Frequently required to talk and hear, to stand, walk or sit; to balance, stoop, crouch and kneel
  • Occasionally required to push, pull and/or safely lift various pieces of equipment or parts weighing up to 50 pounds safely
  • Vision abilities (corrective or non) include close range, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus 
  • Ability to understand and comply with all company, safety and quality policies and procedures and advocate ISO system standards
