Description

Summary

The Manager of Purchasing and Supply Chain will play a crucial role in ensuring the success and growth of our company through effective procurement strategies, new vendor and supplier relationship management. This position will be responsible for developing and executing the company’s sourcing, negotiating, and contracting strategies with suppliers to secure the best possible terms and prices for goods and services essential to our operations. Utilize strategic insight and market knowledge to drive our procurement decisions, ultimately contributing to our overall profitability.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops new vendor and supplier relationships.
  • Works with our current baseline approved suppliers to negotiate best available cost. 
  • Implement strategic procurement plans aligned with company objectives and budgetary requirements.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential suppliers and assess their capabilities, facilities, limitations and how they can help expand our vendor base.
  • Mentor and develop purchasing team of various skills and capabilities.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to achieve optimal terms, including pricing, delivery schedules, quality standards, and payment terms.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, finance, and quality assurance to ensure alignment of procurement activities. 
  • Initiate and develop supplier relationships to foster collaboration, address performance issues, and drive continuous improvement in quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Monitor and evaluate supplier performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions as necessary to ensure compliance with contractual agreements and quality standards as outlined in our ISO documentation.
  • Identify new suppliers, vendors or opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and risk mitigation within the supply chain. 
  • Maintain full records of all new vendors and suppliers qualified to perform fabrication and or assembly services to the organization.  
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes affecting procurement practices, and incorporate relevant insights into decision-making processes.
  • Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, including contracts, pricing agreements, and supplier performance data, using appropriate procurement management systems and tools.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement function, such as process automation, or technology solutions to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and productivity.
  • Collaborate with inventory management teams to optimize inventory levels, minimize excess or obsolete inventory, and ensure timely availability of materials and supplies to support production and operations.
  • Identify potential risks within the supply chain, such as supply disruptions, geopolitical issues, or regulatory changes, and develop strategies to mitigate these risks effectively.
  • Hires, mentors and if needed administers performance counseling to direct reports. Ensures direct reports possess needed skills and knowledge to successfully perform essential duties.

  • Effective time management and organization skills to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and manage priorities.
  • Proficiency in business software and tools (EX: ERP systems), as well as Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • Ability to travel (including overnight) up to 15%, primarily domestically but may occasionally require international travel. 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in strategic procurement, sourcing, and supplier management required.
  • Minimum Five (5) or more years of progressive related experience in a manufacturing, industrial or other relatable industry required.
  • Prior supervisory / people leadership experience. 
  • Certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CSCP, CPSM, CPM) is a plus.
