Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Plant Engineer to manage and maintain critical systems within the facility. This role includes responsibility for thermal oxidizers, steam boilers, process chillers, air compressors, HVAC systems, natural gas generators, building security, and building & grounds repairs. The engineer will also lead the preventative maintenance program, oversee facility capital improvement projects, and lead the maintenance department in ensuring efficient, safe, and reliable plant operations.
What you'll be responsible for:
- Oversee the operation, maintenance and compliance of thermal oxidizers (for air pollution control), steam boilers, chillers and cooling systems, air compressors, HVAC systems, natural gas generators and related equipment ensuring reliable performance across plant operations
- Ensure environmental regulatory requirements, prevent downtime and perform regular testing, inspections and repairs on equipment
- Manage building security systems, including surveillance, access control, alarms, and emergency response protocols as well as building infrastructure and grounds maintenance including repairs and working with contractors. Ensure security systems are functional, regularly tested, and updated to meet safety standards
- Lead and manage maintenance department including developing a preventative maintenance (PM) program for all critical plant systems and equipment. Schedule and oversee regular PM tasks to ensure optimal performance and minimize unplanned downtime
- Lead, plan, and manage capital improvement projects to upgrade plant equipment, infrastructure, and systems.
What you'll have:
- Bachelor of Science degree in an applicable Engineering discipline, or Facilities Management
- 5+ years of experience in a plant engineering / maintenance environment, with expertise in steam boilers, thermal oxidizers, HVAC systems, air compressors, natural gas generators and building security systems
- Proven experience managing maintenance teams and leading capital improvement projects
- Strong understanding of safety standards, environmental regulations, and compliance requirements in industrial settings.
- In-depth knowledge of troubleshooting and maintaining complex mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems.
- Experience with project management, including budgeting, scheduling, and vendor coordination.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in maintenance management software (CMMS), work order systems, inventory control, and performance tracking tools.
- Experience in ERP or MRP (SAP preferred).
