Manager of Engineering
Location: 420 Building – On Site
Reports To: Brian Botta, Executive Creative Director
Position Overview
The Manager of Engineering is a senior technical and operational leader responsible for overseeing all engineering efforts within RWOB & Innomark. This role leads the Engineering Team on-site at 420 and works in direct collaboration with the Modelshop, Account Managers, Project Managers, and Design Team to ensure seamless execution from concept through production and installation.
This individual brings 8+ years of hands-on experience across the full product development lifecycle — from customer development and retail fixture design to fabrication, manufacturing, and installation. They balance creativity with precision, cost with performance, and innovation with operational discipline.
The Manager of Engineering ensures engineering excellence while supporting RWOB’s mission of delivering high-impact, scalable retail environments.
Core Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership
- Lead and mentor the Engineering Team to deliver high-quality, production-ready solutions.
- Establish engineering standards, documentation protocols, and best practices.
- Drive accountability around timelines, accuracy, and manufacturability.
- Serve as the technical authority across all permanent and temporary retail programs.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner directly with the Modelshop to ensure prototype integrity and production feasibility.
- Collaborate with Designers to translate creative concepts into engineered realities.
- Work alongside Account Managers and Project Managers to align scope, budgets, and timelines.
- Participate in client-facing conversations when technical leadership is required.
Product Development & Execution
- Oversee engineering development from concept refinement through fabrication and installation.
- Ensure solutions are structurally sound, cost-effective, and scalable for mass production.
- Optimize material selection, manufacturing processes, and assembly strategies.
- Identify risks early and proactively solve for manufacturing, shipping, or install challenges.
Retail Expertise
- Apply deep knowledge of retail fixtures and environments.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety requirements.
- Balance aesthetics, durability, logistics, and in-store functionality.
Operational Excellence
- Improve workflows between Design, Engineering, and Modelshop.
- Support sustainable processes that drive efficiency and margin improvement.
- Monitor engineering hours and resource allocation to ensure profitability.
- Champion continuous improvement across tools, technology, and documentation.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in retail fixture engineering or product development.
- Extensive hands-on experience in fabrication, manufacturing, and installation processes.
- Proven ability to lead engineering teams in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Highly proficient in CAD and engineering documentation platforms.
- Strong understanding of materials, structural systems, and production methods.
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to balance design intent and business objectives.
- Demonstrated integrity, leadership presence, and customer-first mindset.
