Team Summary
The Manager, Maintenance Training & Professional Development is a key member of the Corporate Reliability & Maintenance Team and works closely with corporate peers focusing on Reliability Engineering, Materials Management, and Work Execution Management. This role will report to the Sr. Director of Operations Maintenance Transformation and will be responsible to lead & manage a team of mechanical and electrical subject matter experts.
Job Summary
This collaborative role will be the champion of and develop a strategic plan to implement world-class Maintenance and Reliability training and professional development. This is a dynamic role, working with Residential and Commercial site Maintenance Managers in assessing the current state of training needs and skills gaps in the Maintenance and Reliability organization, identifying specific improvement initiatives, and providing resources and leadership to solve at the site level.
This role works to develop an overall Maintenance and Reliability training program consisting of virtual, classroom, hands-on, and on-the-job training elements. The Maintenance Training & Professional Development Manager collaborates with GAF HR functions for role-based learning management systems (LMS) management and skills-based progression. This role supports and manages a team of SMEs with mechanical and electrical knowledge bases.
This is a remote-based position with travel requirements of up to 50% to support plant needs and projects.
Essential Duties
Maintenance Training Development and Deployment
Perform plant-level assessments to identify the current state measured against best practices in all areas of maintenance training.
Develop maintenance skills matrices for technical progressions and knowledge for both hourly and salaried workforce.
Leads the design, construction, and implementation of any physical training space or hands-on trainers.
Works with supporting organizations on a unified business approach for the GAF network.
Chairs and facilitates periodic performance dialogues, with supporting KPIs both upward and downward in the organization.
Manages a yearly budget of up to $1MM. Direct management of GAF training facility.
Works closely with the training team on scheduling.
Collaborates with 3rd party training providers as needed.
Collaborate with GAF Vendors to leverage any training opportunities provided.
This role is a key member of the Corporate R&M team, and works closely with corporate peers focusing on Reliability Engineering, Materials Management, and Work Execution Management.
Under This Roof, We Require:
Associate’s Degree Technical, Engineering, or Maintenance Field Required
Minimum of 5 years of industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience, training, technical school, or apprenticeship
Must have experience in managing skills within an LMS. Will be an endorser of graduate records, along with HR and site Maintenance Management.
Demonstrated history of implementing training and education programs focused at improving manufacturing maintenance skills for trades.
Experience with various training media: In Person, Hands-On, Video, Webinar, etc
Ability to lead & manage a team of SME training professionals who work in a distributed / remote setting.
Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical and control systems found in industrial manufacturing settings.
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain records, generate reports, and communicate KPIs to stakeholders to monitor the status of the GAF Maintenance training program, enrollee progression and graduation.
