RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and Company Safety, Health, and Environmental Programs, Policies and Procedures
- Share leadership in site improvement efforts and the general management of the Tonawanda facility consistent with stated beliefs, values and behavioral standards of the site.
- Provide maintenance and reliability engineering resources.
- Audit all maintenance work for compliance with applicable management systems (ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO50001, FSSC22000).
- Ensure that all work improves or maintains the overall safety and health impact of site
- Take an active role in ensuring that the plant is continuously improving HSE performance
- Ensure that the Tonawanda maintenance planning and scheduling are effective.
- Ensure department goals meet plant business needs/plans and that the department operations are managed for maximum efficiency and effectiveness
- Contribute to strategic planning for plant
- Coach and develop line supervisors/coordinators.
- Manage the resources required to maintain and enhance the plant’s equipment and facilities to achieve or exceed required levels of production.
- Plan, organize, lead, and control all maintenance activities in order to maintain equipment reliability and meet production and quality requirements in a safe and cost-effective manner.
- Promote best practices in condition-monitoring predictive maintenance techniques to improve plant up-time.
- Participate in the overall coordination, management and review of the quality process as a member of the Plant Leadership Team.
- Ensure team maintains an effective mechanical integrity system for the facility.
- Ensure the project management system is used to effectively manage capital and other resources.
- Manage resources required to plan, develop, implement and enhance cost awareness, control, and reduction programs to ensure favorable performance against plant maintenance and departmental operating budgets.
- Actively participate in collecting and disseminating information and resources to allow the maintenance group to improve their technical performance and management techniques.
- Develop, implement and actively manage stores inventory strategy for the site.
- Lead and support development of reliability/manufacturing competencies and skills throughout the workforce with a focus on continuous development of maintenance skills, and providing an environment to foster improved teamwork within and between team and crews.
- Lead change initiatives to support organizational growth, development and skills.
- Take on Plant Manager delegation when needed.
REQUIREMENTS
- BS Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, preferred.
- Previous experience as a Maintenance Manager, Supervisor, and/or Engineer; 7+ years chemical or industrial experience.
- 3 – 5+ years people management/supervisory experience.
- Budget management.
- Production/manufacturing management experience – 8 to 10 years.
- Mechanical aptitude with a familiarity in one or more disciplines including but not limited to piping, mechanical integrity, vibration analysis etc.
- Basic knowledge of maintenance craft.
- Strong working knowledge of maintenance and reliability engineering discipline.
- Experience working and managing in a union environment. Contact negotiation experience preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage time and priorities effectively .
- Strong analytical, organizational and leadership abilities.
- Works without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on achieving full compliance with applicable rules and regulations in management and/or operations.
