Iowa State University’s Facilities Planning and Management (FPM) Utilities Department is seeking a Manager of Electrical Distribution Services to supervise high voltage electricians, electricians, apprentice electricians and underground utility locators who operate, maintain, repair and upgrade campus and utility plant electrical distribution systems. This position is responsible for safe and reliable operation and maintenance of electrical distribution systems at Iowa State University.
The ISU electrical distribution systems include, but are not limited to, the following:
Primary duties will include scheduling electricians’ workloads for campus’ electrical distribution system operation, maintenance, and repair activities; collaborating with external contractors performing distribution system upgrades; and developing and reviewing high voltage switching procedures to reroute or isolate power for portions of the electrical distribution system.
The position will also be responsible for responding to campus/customer electrical issues and power outages 24 hours/day, 7 days/week, and shall direct adequate and timely response for electrical issue(s) resolution and/or emerging safety risk; manage and coordinate scheduled building utility service outages.
Additional duties include:
The successful candidate will possess strong communication skills; strong organizational and analytical skills; ability to organize and coordinate work within and between projects; and have the ability and willingness to learn and understand complex utility systems and equipment.
