We are seeking an experienced business incentive professional to join our fast paced, collaborative Denver based tax department. The Manager of Business Economic Incentives will serve as the hands-on process owner for PFG’s multi-state economic development incentive compliance portfolio. This role will manage the end-to-end compliance process, including data gathering, analytics, preparation, review, and filing of recurring incentive compliance obligations. The role is also responsible for maintaining the compliance calendar, interpreting contract performance requirements, coordinating with internal business partners and external advisors, and ensuring filings and support are accurate, complete, timely filed, and audit ready. The ideal candidate will have direct hands-on experience preparing and filing multi-state incentive compliance reports, strong data and process discipline, and a working knowledge of property tax and sales/use tax compliance. 

RESPONSIBILITES
  • Manage the Company’s multi-state business incentive compliance process, including calendars, data requests, recurring filings, contract performance requirements, internal approvals, and audit-ready support. 

  • Prepare and file required incentive compliance reports across multiple jurisdictions 

  • Own the process for gathering, validating, reconciling, and analyzing data required for incentive compliance and benefit realization, including data from internal business partners and external advisors. 

  • Maintain the incentive portfolio database and source documentation, ensuring agreements, obligations, filing deadlines, benefit calculations, correspondence, and compliance status are complete, current, and well organized. 

  • Interpret incentive agreements and contract performance requirements to identify reporting obligations, data needs, deadlines, risk areas, and documentation requirements. 

  • Perform analytics and prepare benefit calculations, workpapers, reconciliations, and explanations needed to support filings and internal reporting. 

  • Review third party provider filings, workpapers, calculations, assumptions, and deliverables to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with contract requirements. 

  • Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders to obtain timely and accurate data, resolve data gaps, and escalate risks or delays that could impact compliance or benefit realization. 

  • Prepare clear summaries, dashboards, and leadership updates regarding compliance status, realized benefits, upcoming deadlines, open items, and risk areas. 

  • Support compliance audits, jurisdictional inquiries, and internal reviews by maintaining organized, defensible documentation and responding timely to information requests. 

  • Support tax, compliance, technology, and process-improvement initiatives as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Law, or a related discipline 

  • 5+ years of direct experience with state and local business incentives, credits, economic development programs, or related tax compliance  

  • Working knowledge of property tax and sales/use tax compliance, including how jurisdiction, location, entity, asset, exemption, revenue, payroll, and operational data may affect incentive compliance. 

  • Firsthand experience preparing and filing multi-state incentive compliance reports, including recurring filings, contract performance requirements, supporting workpapers, benefit calculations, and audit support. 

  • Strong project and process management skills, including the ability to organize complex deliverables, manage open items, and drive timely completion without direct authority over cross-functional partners. 

  • Ability to identify issues, question assumptions, escalate risks, and drive timely resolution 

  • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear summaries for leadership and documentation for tax/compliance support 

  • Experience coordinating with external consultants, service providers, and cross-functional internal stakeholders. 

  • Attention to detail, strong follow-through, and comfort working in a deadline-driven environment. 

  • Alteryx and PowerPoint experience preferred 

  • CPA and/or CCIP designation a plus
