Job Overview:

Company Overview:

MP Materials (NYSE: MP) is rebuilding American industrial capability for a new era of autonomy, robotics, and electrification.

We are the only U.S. company with a fully integrated rare earth supply chain—from mining and refining to advanced metal and magnet manufacturing. Our products include both the critical materials used to make permanent magnets and the finished magnets themselves—enabling next-generation technologies in robotics, automation, aerospace, transportation, defense, and energy systems. These materials are the foundation of physical AI—the convergence of computation, movement, and control.

We hire ambitious, mission-driven people who want to tackle complex challenges and shape the future of strategic industries. Our culture is rooted in teamwork, resiliency, and integrity, with a deep commitment to operational excellence and national purpose. MP is rapidly evolving from a materials producer into a leading U.S. manufacturer—and our people are driving that transformation.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to assess accounting implications of strategic initiatives and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Support acquisition accounting and post-acquisition integration, including purchase accounting, policy alignment, and system harmonization.
  • Serve as a bridge between accounting operations and technical accounting, helping translate technical requirements into actionable process steps.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to support new business models and operational changes.
  • Drive continuous improvement in day-to-day accounting processes, controls, and reporting, and make recommendations to/partner with Finance Transformation and/or IT teams.
  • Support internal and external audit processes related to special projects and new initiatives.
  • Guide and support team members involved in the execution of accounting projects and change management, as applicable.
  • As requested, provide accounting guidance on complex transactions and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and SOX.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP and maintaining a strong internal control SOX environment; Solid understanding of SEC external financial reporting.
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and accounting system implementations.
  • Subject matter expert and/or strong interest in thoroughly understanding accounting systems, including configurations and data flows.
  • Ability to coordinate projects from inception to completion, incorporating feedback from multiple sources and stakeholders.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize competing projects, and manage requests/assignments in a timely manner.
