Position Title:                   Maintenance – Technicians, Millwrights, Mechanics

Positions:

Core Accountabilities

Millwright

  • Performs periodic inspections, tests, and maintenance procedures on equipment to preserve and perpetuate proper functionality.
  • Troubleshoots when issues arise with equipment.
  • Adjusts, repairs, and/or replaces defective parts as needed.
  • Communicates mechanical issues that require supervisory or managerial expertise.

 

 

Maintenance Planner

  • Maintains and improves required and spare parts inventory and tracking capabilities.
  • Develops & maintains equipment print & schematic library for tradesmen utilization.
  • Assesses equipment to determine time needed for service & repair.
  • Tracks status of projects and ensures they are brought to fruition.
  • Updates & prints PMs with management input.
  • Overseas flow of product in warehouse to maintain security & accountability.
  • Collaborates with leads & supervisors in procurement and kitting required for repairs.
  • Creates & manages partnerships with contractors.
  • Authors & facilitates execution of five-year plan that forecasts repairs & shutdown operations.

Lead Maintenance Tech

  • Performs the role of the Millwright, Welder, and Electrician as needed.
  • Submits requests for parts to facilitate completion of repairs and projects.
  • Controls and communicates preventive maintenance work requirements and manages schedule of outcome resolution as needed.
  • Completes shift notes accurately and follows up on items that still need repaired.
  • Additionally directs the work of other techs to perform maintenance efficiently and effectively.

Maintenance Foreman

  • Directly supervises / manages Techs and Leads and ensures their productivity and accuracy meets expectations. 
  • As needed, can and does perform the role of these positions. 

Tooling Technician

  • Changes over mill with designated tooling and aligns it to ensure production is on-spec.
  • Read and interprets technical manuals, schematics, blueprints, diagrams, and equipment specifications.
  • Maintain accuracy and account of tooling equipment.              
  • Performs preventative maintenance periodically and troubleshoots as needed.

 

Other: Temporarily assume the duties and responsibilities of other roles, as directed by management.  All safety and operational parameters of the assumed role apply.

Qualifications and Essential Functions

 

Experience Required:   

Experience in an industrial environment using related tools and equipment.  Six (6)+ months of training & close supervision in position. 

 

For foreman: Six (6)+ months of experience in supervisory role.

 

Education/Experience (REQUIRED):

High School diploma or GED equivalent strongly preferred; Certification a plus.

 

Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to work overtime in order to meet the needs of the operation. 
  • Acute visual ability to observe product nonconformance.  Visual ability consisting of strong close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  •  Perform intense manual labor with long work hours.  Ability to stand for a long period of time; bend, stoop, climb, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, and move around work area.
  •  Ability to use hands and fingers to handle or feel and reach with arms.
  •  Ability to lift and carry up to 55 lbs occasionally, and 20 lbs regularly.
  •  Demonstrates skill in operating equipment.
  •  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to read a minimum of Jaeger 2 or equivalent type and size letter at a distance of not less than 12 inches on a standard Jaeger test chart.
  • Ability to utilize basic computer skills, (word, excel, type, email, etc.)

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent and mass; and interpret bar graphs.
  •  Aptitude to calculate and use the following instruments – Scale in 1/8”, 1/16”, 1/32” and 1/64” increments – 12” to 72” long; Protractor Head, Diameter Tape – 100’s increments, Micrometers, Diameter Tape – 1/64” increments, 6” Vernier Caliper, 50’ Tapes, Ring Gauges, Squares, Levels, Line Levels, Various Tape Measures, Conversion Charts (Decimal to Fraction, Fraction to Decimal), Tri-Square, String Line, Feeler Gauges, Overhead Scale, Dial Indicators, Calipers

 

COMMUNICATION:                         

  • Ability to effectively and efficiently communicate with employees via conversation or in writing.
  • Ability to read and interpret product specifications such as work orders and travelers.
  • Ability to effectively present information to management. 
  • Ability to effectively speak before groups and/or customers.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English for the purpose of product specification interpretation and training and safety materials comprehension.

ENVIRONMENTAL:                           

  • Ability to work most effectively in an industrial workshop field setting while also capable of managing tools, inventory, and equipment as part of the daily work activities and management.  Wet and humid conditions / subject to outdoor weather conditions such as heat.  Occasional exposure to fumes and airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. Moderate to high noise. Must be able to work morning, evening, & night shifts, including rotating shifts as applicable.
