Job Overview:

SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for safely installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production equipment and facility systems to support manufacturing performance. This role executes planned and unplanned maintenance work, supports uptime goals, and ensures all work is performed in alignment with safety, quality, and maintenance process standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Individual is responsible and accountable for the following duties and requirements:

**Core Responsibilities

**

  • Perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of corrugator, converting equipment, and facility systems

  • Execute work orders including PMs, PdMs, routine repairs, and project work as assigned

  • Support production by responding to breakdowns quickly and effectively

  • Follow all safety procedures including Lockout/Tagout, Arc Flash, PPE, Hot Work, and confined space requirements

  • Maintain machine uptime by identifying and correcting equipment issues

**Work Execution & Ownership

**

  • Complete assigned work orders fully and correctly within the shift

  • Verify repairs are successful before returning equipment to production

  • Communicate job status, delays, and issues to the Maintenance Supervisor

  • Do not pass incomplete work to the next shift without clear documentation and communication

  • Participate in troubleshooting and root cause problem solving

**Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

**

  • Perform scheduled PM and PdM tasks with attention to detail and accuracy

  • Identify and report potential failures during inspections

  • Provide feedback to improve PM effectiveness and frequency

  • Perform basic condition monitoring tasks (visual, vibration, temperature, etc. as trained)

**CMMS (LLumin) Responsibilities

**

  • Accurately document all work performed in CMMS including:

  • Problem description

  • Work performed

  • Parts used

  • Measurements/readings where applicable

  • Close out work orders in a timely manner

  • Identify follow-up work and create notifications/work requests as needed

**Parts & Materials Handling

**

  • Identify and request parts required to complete repairs

  • Work with MRO/Parts personnel to ensure correct parts are used

  • Return unused parts to inventory

  • Assist in identifying incorrect or missing parts information

**Team & Shift Support

**

  • Communicate effectively with:

  • Maintenance Supervisors

  • Other technicians

  • Production personnel

  • Provide clear shift handoff communication

  • Support other technicians and departments as needed

  • Assist with training and onboarding of new technicians when applicable

**Continuous Improvement

**

  • Identify opportunities to:

  • Reduce downtime

  • Improve reliability

  • Eliminate repeat failures

  • Participate in root cause analysis efforts

  • Suggest improvements to equipment and maintenance procedures

**Housekeeping & Organization

**

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area

  • Follow 5S standards in shop and production areas

  • Properly store tools and materials

  • Dispose of scrap and unused materials appropriately

  • Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in daily safety huddles and maintenance meetings

  • Support weekend, off-shift, and emergency work as required

  • Assist with project work and capital improvements

  • Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or GED required

Technical training or apprenticeship preferred

Experience in corrugated manufacturing or similar industrial environment preferred

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES

**Technical Skills

**

  • Strong mechanical aptitude (bearings, chains, belts, gearboxes, etc.)

  • Basic electrical troubleshooting (motors, sensors, switches, drives preferred)

  • Ability to read and interpret:

  • Mechanical drawings

  • Electrical schematics

  • OEM manuals

  • Experience with industrial equipment repair

**Problem Solving

**

  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment failures using logical, step-by-step methods

  • Ability to identify root causes vs symptoms

  • Willingness to ask questions and escalate when needed

**Tools & Systems

**

  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments

  • Basic computer skills (CMMS, email, documentation)

  • Ability to learn and use LLumin CMMS

**Communication & Teamwork

**

  • Clear and effective communication across shifts and departments

  • Ability to follow instructions and provide feedback

  • Works well in a team environment

**Work Ethic & Accountability

**

  • Self-motivated and dependable

  • Takes ownership of assigned work

  • Maintains consistent attendance and punctuality

  • Willing to work overtime, weekends, and off-shifts as needed

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to solve practical problems in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, or diagram form

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

  • Basic understanding of:

  • Industrial equipment operation

  • Production processes

  • Quality requirements

  • Familiarity with predictive and preventive maintenance concepts

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Successfully demonstrate all Class B qualifications

  • Provide own tools necessary to perform maintenance tasks

  • Prior work experience in a corrugated industry (Preferred) or other manufacturing process(es) similar in size

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy. Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate. Able to apply concepts of high school math.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Will be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License and/or other appropriate certification to work in certain areas or on certain equipment.

  • Additional certifications as required (LOTO, Arc Flash, etc.)
