Additional responsibilities include buildings and facilities maintenance and repair. Work performed includes electrical, programmable logic control, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and welding operations associated with installation and repair of all types of equipment, machinery, overhead cranes, heating and plumbing compressors, pumps, conveyors, motors and boilers
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Requires full range of body motion to include: frequent lifting, bending, twisting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, stooping, squatting, reaching and working overhead. Such activities are often performed for extended periods of time and in tight, awkward positions (such as underneath, reaching over or on top of machinery and equipment) or at heights up to forty feet to perform maintenance on tube-processing equipment, machinery and overhead cranes.
* Position requires frequent walking and/or standing on concrete floor during a twelve-hour shift while wearing steel-toed shoes. Maintenance Technician may walk up to two (2) miles per twelve-hour shift while performing essential duties.
* Position requires the ability to walk on slippery, unstable surfaces while maintaining one’s balance. The ability to maintain one's balance while performing the required work tasks is essential.

* Requires frequent unassisted lifting of a variety of objects from various positions, which range in weight from 5 to 50 pounds with an average weight of 34-37 pounds.
* While proper lifting standards are required and emphasized, there is great strain on a Maintenance Technician’s back. For example, Maintenance Technician’s carry either a tool pouch or a tool box from equipment to equipment to perform essential functions of their job. The average weight of a tool pouch is 18-22 lbs. and the average weight of a tool box is 25-30 lbs. Tool pouches are either worn slung over their shoulder or around their waist.
* Maintenance Technician’s utilize a variety of hand positions such as turning, twisting, and pounding. Some tools used by the Maintenance Technician vibrate, cut, grind, and weld.
* The job is fast paced and the ability to deal with stress is essential.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Indoor, manufacturing environment with regular exposure to loud and prolonged noise. Noise exposure is constant, which includes the noise of machinery and overhead cranes. Noise exposure also includes frequent and extremely loud clanging sounds caused from metal tubing banging against each other during processing. Employees are required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to include noise/hearing protection, safety glasses with side shields and steel toed work shoes. Employee work 12 hour shifts experiencing regular exposure to hot temperatures of 95° F to 110° F in the summer due to the combination of the actual outside temperature and heat from the processes inside the facility. Employees are also exposed to cold temperatures, which is dependent on the actual outside temperature.
