We are currently hiring a Maintenance Technician at the Samuel Adams Boston Brewery in Jamaica Plain, MA.
The Maintenance Technician will direct responsibility for the maintenance and reliability of all equipment, utilities, and the facilities at the Samuel Adams Boston Brewery and Downtown Taproom. Works collaboratively with other functional areas to ensure all maintenance related needs are met in a timely fashion. Provides support and/or develops programs related to maintenance including preventative maintenance, facility management, budgeting, engineering, and compliance requirements.
What You’ll Brew:
- Promote a “Safety First” and team-oriented environment
- Maintain the equiptment, utilities, and facilities
- Provide support for in house repair and maintenance projects
- Develop and maintain proper preventative maintenance of systems and facilities
- Ordering of supplies and consumable items related to utility and maintenance needs
- Liaison between contract labor and management.
- Provide technical feedback, analysis, complete shift reports, and assist management with daily duties and reporting responsibilities in support of the maintenance department and operations
- Staying up to date on maintenance programs and procedures
- Collaborate with SABB Engineering + Maintenance Manager to evaluate existing brewery systems and facilities against current and projected needs
- Manage an ever-changing environment with customers arriving and leaving
What Ingredients You’ll Bring:
Education
- Required: High School or GED. High school diploma or formal trade skills required (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, etc.)
- Desired: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree - BS in engineering preferred
Minimum Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in a maintenance role
- And/or 2 years of experience in industrial operations, plant operations, utilities, or related field
- And/or 2 years of experience in a production brewery or sanitary manufacturing environment
- Experience using contractors to complete various projects.
- Excellent troubleshooting ability, both electrical and mechanical
- Demonstrated problem solving / project management skills
- Ability to analyze information to make process improvements
- Ability to be flexible and shift priorities in a constantly changing, fast-paced work environment
- Self-starter, proactive, successful in a collaborative environment
- Highly effective multi-tasker; resourceful with a “get-it-done, can-do” attitude
- Strong oral/written communication, interpersonal, and teambuilding skills
- Proficient with computers; including but not limited to, Microsoft Office, including MS Word, MS Excel
- Work overtime as needed which may require 12-hour days, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Forklift operator certified
- Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Systems (CMMS)
- Boiler operators or steam engineers license preferred
- MA Grade 1-I Wastewater license preferred
- Red Cross CPR & First Aid certifications preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs, sometimes repeatedly
- Regular walking and standing for long periods of time (up to 11 hours a day) on concrete, metal and grated surfaces
- While performing the duties of this role, it may be required to climb flights of stairs, work from heights or on elevated platforms
- Agile enough to step over, crouch or crawl under
- Established dexterity to:
- Handle materials
- Operate equipment
- Interface with computer systems with precision
- Ability to pour, pick up a glass, deliver beverages to customers
- Ability to handle kitchen and service equipment
- Occasional travel required in support of projects
Working Conditions
- Tolerate summer/winter temperature conditions and hot and cold room environments
- Operate in brewery atmosphere and occasional loud conditions
- Handling of chemicals while wearing appropriate PPE
Level: 8
Pay: In accordance with pay transparency laws the pay rate for this role if hired is $23.56-$44.23 per hour. However, it’s important to note that where the person hired starts in this range is dependent on their related experience, skillset and location.
