Purpose:
Performs diversified maintenance mechanical duties, requiring a variety of mechanical skills. Executes maintenance work orders which requires individual initiative and judgment.
Job Functions/Accountabilities:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Performs troubleshooting and makes repairs on all plant equipment, including bearings, mechanical seals, dual mechanical seals, couplings, chains, sprockets, gearboxes, conveyors, etc.
- Resolves critical equipment issues with a strong sense of urgency and integrity.
- Thoroughly closes work orders.
- Performs preventive and predictive maintenance on equipment and documents all activities on pumps, motors, conveyors, mechanical seals and other mechanical equipment.
- Diagnoses and applies results using laser alignment tools for power-driven connections.
- Completes overhauls of process pumps and ensure proper documentation of the repair including equipment condition history.
- Assists in planning, scheduling and execution of maintenance work orders. Executes maintenance activities per instruction of Maintenance Coordinator, to include the recordkeeping, monitoring of maintenance costs, and production performance.
- Assists in identifying and resolving chronic mechanical equipment failures/concerns (bad actors).
- Supports root cause analysis program for major failures.
- Participates in the development of work procedures.
- Participates in achieving maintenance goals/objectives
- Recommends improvements and changes in the design and application of mechanical equipment, piping, spare parts and tools required to perform work. Assists in the modification of plant equipment and facilities as assigned.
- Contacts vendors to seek and evaluate proposals for rotating machinery parts.
- Continuously seeks ways to improve performance of our plant's operation and ensures that your customer's (both internal and external) needs are met. Adhere to the quality system.
- Assists other skill crafts as needed, which may include may pipefitting, insulating, machining, carpentry, light electrical work, and assisting welder and other crafts, .
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED is required.
Technical or Vocational school preferred.
NCCER Industrial Millwright certification preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 8 years industrial maintenance millwright experience in a chemical, petrochemical or refinery facilitie
Other:
- Must possess a good understanding of general maintenance work (i.e., mechanical equipment, pumps, rotating equipment, mechanical seals, pipefitting, fabrication, minor fabrication, rigging techniques, etc.).
- SAP experience preferred.
- Level II certification in Vibration Analysis with 12 months experience and certification in Lubrication,
- Vibration and ultrasonic testing is a plus
- Be able to understand and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and layouts.
- Prefer some basic knowledge and understanding of electricity and electrical equipment.
- Good computer skills.
- Experience with precision alignment of motors, couplings, bearings, and pumps; Experience with lubrication standard of bearings and gearboxes.
- Thermography and Ultrasonic Testing and Oil Analysis a plus.
- Maintenance experience in the plastics/rubber industries and/or twin screw extrusion a plus.
Work Conditions:
Chemical Plant/Manufacturing environment. An extensive amount of time is spent on the floor in a manufacturing plant environment. Plant environment is a multi-acre site. Typical daily assignments are physically demanding, requiring balancing, standing, cleaning, reaching, visual discernment, crawling, climbing, twisting, turning, squatting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, full respiratory function and lifting.
