CANDIDATE OBJECTIVE

We are seeking a qualified Mechanic I/II for our Boardman vegetable processing facility. Qualified individuals should have a mechanical, electrical or instrument and controls background or education. Candidates Should have experience performing maintenance work in an industrial food manufacturing or similar industry, and be familiar with industry best practices, safety regulations, and safe work practices.

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and piping systems. Utilize industry Best Practices to perform maintenance activities including corrective maintenance (CM), preventative maintenance (PM) and predictive maintenance (PdM) for various industrial systems including but not limited to plant utilities, ammonia refrigeration, HVAC, steam, water, gas, wastewater, compressed air, and building systems.

  • Able to troubleshoot and repair pumps, valves, hydraulic systems, steam system, air compressor system, optical sorters, process equipment that utilize PLCs, VFDs, and sensors, and electrical components including small motors (below 5HP), control panels, and gearboxes.

  • Able to use shop equipment such as drill press, brake, plasma cutter, pipe threader, power tools, etc.

  • Must be able to safely apply knowledge and troubleshooting skills to all assigned facility systems. Supports all programs and policies that ensure that product is of the highest quality, meets specifications while championing Food Safety and Good Manufacturing Programs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and may occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or Caustic chemicals, extreme cold, and extreme heat. Employee should be familiar with OSHA standards regarding Electric Shock, Rotating Mechanical Equipment, Fall Hazard, Confined Space, Lift Truck and Genie Boom operation, Hazard Communication and Hearing Conservation.

Qualifications


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

To be considered for this position, you must have at least one, and preferably more, of the following qualifications:

  • AA/AAS Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Refrigeration Technology, Electronics, Instrument and Controls

  • 3 years Line or Packaging Mechanic Experience

  • 3 Years Industrial Boiler or Refrigeration Experience

  • 3 Years Millwright Experience

  • Journeyman Card (Millwright, Electrician, Pipefitter, Machinist, Industrial Mechanic, Ironworker)

  • Current or former RETA Refrigeration Certification

  • Licensed Electrical Journeyman, LJM, or LME through the state of Oregon.

  • Certified or can Qualify by weld test using SMAW, MIG or TIG

  • Pipefitting and Plumbing experience

  • 3 Years Food Maintenance Experience in a similar plant or facility
