American Construction Metals (ACM), a strategic business unit of ABC Supply, produces a wide array of metal building materials including trim coil, edge metal, gutter systems, and a variety of other metal accessories. ACM is seeking an experienced Machine Maintenance Technician to join its team. This position requires overlooking all in-house automation and robotics with some machine setup and changeover. The individual should be able to troubleshoot machine VFD’s and read supplier electrical drawings to identify and fix any electrical issues. Duties may include:
- Maintaining the conformance of the Lock-Out / Tag-Out program during routine maintenance of machines and during special uncommon repairs
- Documenting startup processes, designs of mechanical / electrical systems for production equipment
- Dropping new electrical wiring for machinery
- Understanding the workflow of in-house automation and robotics and must be able to troubleshoot and initiate improvement projects
- Starting up automation projects in-house
- Coordinating and supervising the training of associates that operate automation equipment as needed to support the production team
- Developing “Troubleshooting Guides” for each machine, for set-up associates and production operators’ use
- Stopping production when product quality does not meet the requirements, equipment operation is not safe or not functioning properly
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Engineer
Qualifications include:
- Two-year technical degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
- Electrical and PLC certification is a plus
- Must have experience with electrical repairs and wiring (3 Phase 480 VAC, 120 VAC)
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision
- Robotic troubleshooting experience with FANUC and Kawasaki is a plus
- Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical drawings
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Strong time management and organizational skills
Physical Demand:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
- Reach with hands and arms; climb stairs.
- Balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk, hear, taste and/or smell.
- Associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
- Noise is commonplace in the manufacturing environment; ear protection should be worn 100% of the time when in the manufacturing areas.
- Safety glasses are to be worn 100% of the time when in the manufacturing areas.
- Dirt, dust, and grease will be present.
- Machines have pinch points, fast moving parts and protruding parts, which present themselves as a potential injury. All ACM associates must be aware of these dangers.

Pay Rate Information:
$25–30/hr. Based on experience and qualifications.
