Job Overview:

What We’re Searching for:

Maintenance Technician in our Rural Hall, NC Packaging Service plant . This role is responsible for maintenance operations using precision and preventative maintenance to maximize plant and production equipment uptime, responsible for preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment and systems; both mechanical and electrical.

 Strong organizational, teamwork, and self-starter skills will lead you to success in this role.

How You Will Contribute:

Perform scheduled PMs and repairs on a variety of machines from multiple manufacturers; proactively learn and understand the operation and maintenance requirements of each.

  • Design, fabricate, and weld components as needed for equipment repair or improvement.
  • Install or relocate electrical and air lines, guarding, safety barriers, posts, signs, and related facility infrastructure.
  • Participate in new equipment installations, facility upgrades, and improvement projects; collaborate with outside vendors for PMs, repairs, and specialized installations.
  • Support production by ensuring equipment is maintained to prevent defects and meet quality standards. Conduct quality checks and take steps to prevent defects.
  • Consistently promote and practice safe work habits, using proper PPE and safety procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members about maintenance issues and solutions.
  • Accurately document work and identify areas for equipment/process improvements.
  • Track, order, and maintain inventory of production consumables such as strapping, stretch film, shrink wrap, hand tape, machine tape, printer ink, and baler wire.
  • Maintain relationships with local vendors; occasionally make local trips to source parts or supplies urgently needed for operations.

Working Conditions:

  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts.

What It Takes:

  • Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 3 years of related experience in a production environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Mathematical Skills: Proficiency in basic math, including using tape measures and other measuring devices.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Basic computer knowledge.
    • Ability to read electrical meters and schematics.
    • Knowledge of power tools and basic carpentry, plumbing, welding, HVAC, and electrical skills.
    • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly and perform tasks requiring bending, crouching, kneeling, and extended overhead work.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work overtime as needed.
