Job Description
A maintenance technician is responsible for performing routine and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems within a facility, ensuring equipment operates efficiently and safely by identifying issues, ordering necessary parts, and completing repairs in a timely manner; often including emergency response to urgent breakdowns.
Responsibilities
Preventative maintenance:
Regularly inspecting and servicing equipment according to scheduled maintenance plans, including lubrication, cleaning, and component replacements.
- Troubleshooting and repair:
Diagnosing malfunctions in equipment, identifying root causes, and performing repairs to restore functionality.
- Emergency response:
Responding to urgent equipment failures outside of regular working hours to minimize downtime.
- Parts management:
Maintaining inventory of common replacement parts and ordering new parts as needed.
- Documentation:
Keeping detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment conditions.
- Safety compliance:
Adhering to safety procedures and regulations when performing maintenance
Skills and Qualifications
Technical knowledge: Proficient in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Troubleshooting skills: Ability to diagnose equipment issues and identify solutions effectively.
Hand tools proficiency: Skillful use of various hand tools and power tools.
-Basic computer skills: Familiarity with maintenance management software (CMMS) to log work orders and track equipment history.
- Problem-solving abilities: Capability to analyze situations, identify root causes, and implement solutions.
- Physical ability: Ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
- Forklift certified (will train and certify)
-Welding, Fabrication and some electrical experience preferred
